Biography

Although the pun in the group's name passed some people by (how many DJs have been guilty of erroneously expanding it to Lipps Incorporated?), the excellence of their electro hit did not. Minneapolis-based producer and writer Steven Greenberg teamed up with singer Cynthia Johnson for the project. The follow-up was "Rock It", a vocal version of a previous instrumental flop by Greenberg.

"Funkytown" was no1 for four weeks in the USA, and the song returned to the UK charts later in the decade in a rocked-up version by Pseudo Echo.
