Dennis Waterman and The Dennis Waterman Band
" I Could Be So Good For You"
Entered Top 20: 8 November 1980
Chart peak: 3
Actor Dennis Waterman was an unsuccessful singer before finding fame as Carter in the 70s cop show "The Sweeney", and has returned to recording rock/rhythm & blues material from time to time. This song was the theme from the comedy drama series "Minder" in which he starred alongside George Cole. In fact, such was the popularity of Minder that a tribute to the series by The Firm, "Arthur Daley ('e's Alright)" - the title a reference to Cole's character - reached number 14 in 1982, and Waterman and Cole had a christmas novelty hit as a duo, "What Are We Gonna Get Er Indoors?" which peaked at number 21.
Waterman's own follow-up single was "Come Away With Me", but his own recordings never troubled the charts again.
